It’s been over three months, and I finally went to Great Ocean Road. OMG! So amazing and gorgeous by nature power.
There are two choices if you want to go to Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. Drive by yourself or take a tour. My friends and I chose to go with Outback Billy. Actually, there are tons of choices, but Billy never let us down. They basically make tours small, lovely and comfortable, which is tough in a long day trip. Below are some stops we visited during this trip.
1. Point Roadknight
Fresh start in the morning. Have a slow pace at this beach and enjoy the nature view. After beach walk, go get a morning tea. For sure, it is the best arrangement of this trip.
2. Memorial Arch
Kind of historical and memorial stuffs of Great Ocean Road. Not much to see. World war one soldiers completed Great Ocean Road in 1932. The arch is for memorial for that, and it was rebuilt in 1973. The present one is renewed in 1983 because of bush fires.
3. Teddy’s Lookout
Amazing and spectacular view of Great Ocean Road. Still a quite place to see the great view.
I’m not sure where it is. Our mission here is to find 5 koalas. We did found 5 koalas in the wild, but they climbed too high and slept. So, we did not see their cute faces. Also, we fed some birds here. It was really fun.
We had a lunch at Iluka, Apollo Bay. Food is just fine. Not so expensive and not blow you up. They served so many groups so sometimes it was not so fast. Overall, it was okay if just get a quick meal.
6. Otway Rainforest
Compared to the morning scenes, there are totally different in the afternoon. It is magic when you visit a rainforest because it is always so vivid and various. Sort of med after a miserable experiences recently.
7. 12 Apostles
Probably the most famous spots in Great Ocean Road. You’ll never regret when you really see. The only thing may ignore you is that so many tourists here. Want to take good photos, you need to fight for it.
8. Loch Ard Gorge
It was a pleasant experience if you take shoes off here. Don’t be rush and take your time to play in the water. Not like 12 Apostles, tourists are less than there.
9. London Bridge
Last stop of Great Ocean Road. Maybe the best places to see the sunset, but in case we were too late to Melbourne city, so we didn’t stay here for so long.
Overall, one day trip of Great Ocean Road is definitely too rush. However, it’s fair enough to see this scenes. So, if you come to Melbourne, don’t miss out here. It will be a tired trip but it’s really worth visiting here.
